Sometimes your life will fall apart
Shattered dreams, a broken heart
It might seem as if the end has come
You’re jacking things in
You’re well and truly done
But from those depths of despair
Will rise a phoenix with flaming hair
And from the fire she’s gasping for air
But she’s survived and she’s still there
For you’re more miraculous than you believe
Even though you were ready to leave
To check out, say sayonara and good bye
Crumpled in a heap of tears
And all you can do is cry
But you realized your life’s a lie
Until you are free and flying high
Free from what you were “meant” to be
The fake persona that others see
Free to be the person within
Finally ready to begin
Fellow Phoenixes
Phoenixes fly with fire flowers
Lightning amplifies their powers
Now and then they shed their flames
Giving them to phoenixes with other names
Their courage to break away and depart
Brings new hope to their heart
New path, new life, new opportunity
They view things in a way no one else can see
Gave me chills, like so many of your poems. You are more miraculous than you believe, Sarah!
Thank you, Lori!
