Misguided Nostalgia

If you live in the past
Your happiness can never last
Don’t let the present pass you by
Because sometimes memories are a lie
Keep moving on
Don’t be afraid
And turn those lemons into lemonade
We live, we learn
We crash, we burn
And good and bad
They happen in turn.
For life’s a balance
And life’s a scale
Sometimes we win
Sometimes we fail
And often life’s beyond the pale
And yet the choice is in your hand
For you alone know the lay of the land
Glass half empty or glass half full?
Are you a bear or are you a bull?
You have more power than you might suppose
Follow your heart and follow your nose
Don’t overthink things in your head
Or worry too much what others have said
The answers you need are deep inside
And yet sometimes they like to hide
We’re so keen to ask others
And forget what we know
Our lack of confidence is our foe
Don’t forget to believe in you
If this is something you want others to do
Don’t be ashamed to be who you are
You’re a work of progress
And you’ve come so very far!
