We are carefree in our life
In our life we are carefree
But is that always what we’ll be?
Thinking of countries like Kuwait
Iraq confiscates their freedom
Something they must hate
Freedom comes with responsibility
The honour to choose how you’d like to be
If we had no freedom, we’d be a flock of sheep
Just following each other in every bound and leap
Oh freedom is important
A major part of life
Taking some one’s freedom
Is like stabbing them with a knife
Life is a candle that shines in the dark
Life is a firework that gives off a spark
Jesus is shining day and night
No matter what, he’s shining bright
When the world seems dark and cold
When nothing’s going right
Think of Jesus up in heaven
And his cheerful light
Jesus died upon the cross
Goodness and kindness will never be lost
He’s stronger than Satan
He’s stronger than sin
Love is stronger than everything
So when you’re in your bed at night
And someone turns out the light
It may be dark, but light’s always there
Just like Jesus … everywhere!
I really like this one. It reminds me of that Sting song “Englishman in New York” about Quentin Crisp in which he sings “At night a candle is brighter than the sun.”
Also, I am developing a new appreciation for Jesus (the historical figure), in a totally objective way…very cool guy.
Great job! Keep writing, Brains!
Glad you liked it, Jay. Thanks for stopping by. I was quite a bit younger when I wrote this one, so I guess we were still going to church at the time. I like it because all the references to light seem quite positive to me. I love that Sting song you mentioned! Hope you are doing well:-). BTW: I also included that poem I wrote for you (there once was a young boy named Jay …).
Love,
S
