The Christmas Story

Christmas is a season with love above measure
Christmas is a season of happiness and pleasure

Think of a stable upon a starry night
Think of the stars twinkling bright

Think of three kings
With gold, frankincense and myrrh

A lady named Mary
A baby she bore

She stayed in a stable
With animals and straw

She stayed with her husband
Joseph was his name

She stayed with Lord Jesus
Who brought her much fame

Think of an angel
That preached God’s word
To some frightened shepherds
The three shepherds they heard

Think of a star shining in the night
Three kings they saw it
The star shining bright

They followed that star
Till they came to the Lord
They followed that star
And they journeyed from God

  1. Who would never cast blame~instead of brought her much fame~~~
just a suggestion Sarah~I hope you don’t mind?????

    1. I see what you mean and that probably does sound better to my adult ears. It’s just this one was once again written in my early teens, so I feel kind of bad about changing it. When I was typing these up, I saw a couple of changes I would have made to them, but they are part of who I was at the time, so it almost felt like cheating to change them after the fact. The vast majority of my poems featured in this section are not recent ones, although there are a few that are. These days, I still write poetry, but not quite as often.
