Memories of Silverdale

This poem was written about a couple of people I once knew when I went to Silverdale Sixth Form college to study my A-Levels.

There was one a young girl called Jen
And Roxy’s* was her den
She liked to dance and wave her pants
At all the gob-smacked men

There was once a young girl called Haze
Who always dressed to amaze
She came to school in sweet fuck all
And started a new craze

There once was a boy called James
Who was awfully good at games
He liked to play all night and day
And impressed all the dames

*Roxy’s is a night club in Sheffield, which was pretty much a “meat market”, i.e. if you went there as a girl you were guaranteed to pull (US: pick up a guy).
