I wrote this for my friend Jayson who at the time was a very close friend. Back then we had one main goal: to get the hell out of Deutschland.
There once was a young boy called Jay
Who liked to do things his way
“I’m crazy, I am, but I don’t give a damn
So take me or leave me, I say”.
This Jay he got married
To a handsome young gent
Got married, you say?
Well, the two they were bent!
They liked to watch operas
And go to the theatre
The things gay men do
And really don’t fear to
They liked to be bitches
And drive each other up the wall
Yes, Jay’s life in Deutschland
Was a big fucking ball!
He got to teachin’ English
It wasn’t quite his thing
But work one must do
So the cash tills will ring
Oftentimes he grew sad
And missed folks back home
You know how it is
When you feel all alone
And nothing seems right
And everything’s absurd
And your life is the craziest thing
You e’er heard
We’ll never fit in
In this capitalist Timbuktu
Where you park on the street
And they threaten to sue
Where no one says hi and no one says bye
And no one says sorry if they poke you in the eye …
It won’t be forever
There’s hope for us yet
We’re out of here
The first chance we get
For the record we’ll say
We’ve gone to Subway
But in reality we’ll be far far away …
