Insomnia

A sheet of paper to pen my thoughts
And while away the time
‘Cause I’m not sleeping as I ought
But thinking up a rhyme

My thoughts they crash inside my head
Like waves against the rocks
They just won’t let me go to bed
They’re incessant with their knocks

Oh to sleep, perchance to dream
Was uttered by the Bard
But me I dream when I’m awake
And thus my sleep is marred

Oh, but could I find my rest
Lay down my weary head
Lie cocooned in my reverie
Dragged down by sleep like lead
