Country Life

It’s moonlight in the meadow
The stars are shining true
See the pansies dancing
Purple, red and blue

Walking in the meadow
See the clumps of grass
Walking in the meadow
The time has come to pass

Silver is the moonlight
Gold are the stars
Soon it will be twilight
I bet I dream of Mars

Looking at the moon
I am in a daze
I’ll wake up soon
Sleep is my craze

I wake up in the morning
Bathe in the stream
Now the day is dawning
Did I have a dream?

Sunset’s growing bright
Red and rose and white
Field mice climbing up the corn
Poppies crimson bright
I remember dawn
And the birds’ flight

Do you see the sun?
Do you see the sky?
Do you see the clouds floating by?
Do you see the trees?
Do you see the flowers?
Do you see the bees?
Do you see the cows?

I dream of a cottage
With roses twisting round the wall
A roof made of straw
And a fish pond or pool
And a tall wooden door
And a miniature hall
Think of the bedroom
With a small bed
And a small wooden board
To rest upon your head

I’m sitting in the moonlight
With a glow worm lighting the way
Soon it will be twilight
Soon it will be day
