The Green Cross Code

I was always a bit of a geek. The Green Cross Code refers to the British set of rules used to teach kids how to safely cross the road. I scrawled down this poem in about five minutes and it launched a competition in the local paper that took my photo for the article. I think I was about 13 at the time.

Be wise, use your eyes
Use the Green Cross Code
See the little green man
Before you cross the road

Stop, look and listen, and obey
Use the Green Cross Code in every way

Use the lights – red, amber and green
And on dark nights make sure you are seen
Just follow and obey
In every way
USE THE GREEN CROSS CODE!!!
